Author announcements

Updated: Aug 13

Happy Monday!

Over the past few months, we have received over 100 fantastic stories from some incredible authors and we have finally whittled this down to just 10. This was an insanely hard decision to make, but we are over the moon with the stories we ended up choosing.

So far we have announced 7 of the authors over on our Twitter.

  • S J Townend with 'I Have Seen Seven Bad Things' - bleak and twisted, from an extremely talented author, we thought this to be a perfect fit for our collection.

BIO:

SJ Townend, an author of dark fiction, has stories published with Vastarien, Ghost Orchid Press, Gravely Unusual Magazine, Dark Matter Magazine, and Timber Ghost Press. Her first horror collection, Sick Girl Screams, is out Oct’ 2024 (Brigid’s Gate Press) and her second horror collection, Your Final Sunset, is coming in 2025 (Sley House Press).

  • Michael Boulerice with 'Music Facilitator' - a straight up creepy story which haunted us from the start. It's gross, it's fucked up, and we LOVE it.

BIO:

Michael Boulerice hails from the wilds of New Hampshire. His short stories can be found with Dark Matter Ink, Cosmic Horror Monthly (June), and elsewhere. When he’s not pouring the unfortunate contents of his brain into a keyboard, Michael is either snowboarding in the White Mountains, or spoiling his pets rotten.

  • Craig Wallwork with 'A Terrifying Silence' - we at Infested are huge fans of Craig's collection 'Human Tenderloin' so were overjoyed when we saw his submission. This story gets its hooks into you from the get go, and drags you along mercilessly.

BIO:

Craig Wallwork is the three times Pushcart Prize nominated author of the Tom Nolan thriller series of books including Bad People, Labyrinth of the Dolls, and The Ghost of Stormer Hill. He is also the author of The Sound of Loneliness, Heart of Glass, and the short story collections, Human Tenderloin, and Quintessence of Dust. Bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones has praised his work in the past, claiming his stories to be, “Wonderfully damaging.” But even with that endorsement, Craig strives daily to better his writing.

  • Ute Orgassa with 'Run!' - We're big lovers of sci-fi at Infested, so naturally this perfect blend of sci-fi and horror was an obvious choice. This story is creepy, desolate, and could be a bleak glimpse into the future of humanity.

BIO:

Ute Orgassa was born and raised in Germany. She now lives with her family in the Bay Area. Her short stories have been published by Shortwave Media, Haunted Word Press, Alternative Milk, and Punk Noir. Her play A Different Track premiered at the 2023 Fringe in Barnstaple, UK and is currently produced by Awkward Pigeons Theater.

  • Marisca Pichette with 'Gravestone House' - a hauntingly poetic tale which really moved us here at Infested. We are delighted to include this beautiful and intelligently profound piece of writing in our collection, which resonates deeply and lingers long after the final word.

BIO:

Marisca Pichette is a queer author based in Massachusetts, on Pocumtuck and Abenaki land. More of her work appears in Strange Horizons, Clarkesworld, Vastarien, Nightmare Magazine, and others. Her speculative poetry collection, Rivers in Your Skin, Sirens in Your Hair, was a finalist for the Bram Stoker and Elgin Awards.

  • Stephen Howard with 'We Calculate Great Things in Your Future' - another exceptional piece of sci-fi we HAD to include, this bleak dystopia provides a chilling vision of what could lie ahead.

BIO:

Stephen Howard is an English novelist and short story writer born and raised in Manchester, England. He was always an avid reader but finally decided that, aged twenty, perhaps he too could write stories people might enjoy. This eventually led to the self-publication of his first novel, Beyond Misty Mountain (2013), inspired by an enduring love of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. Beyond Misty Mountain was rereleased through Amazon in 2020.

His short fiction has been published by Lost Boys Press, The No Sleep Podcast, Dark Recesses Press, and others. Stephen is also a x2 winner of the Northwich Lit Fest short story contest (2022, 2024).

Stephen’s first collection of short fiction, Condemned To Be, was published in 2019 through Amazon. His second, Ophelia in the Underworld and Other Melancholy Tales, released through Alien Buddha Press in 2023. A new series of flash horror, Little Book of Horrors, followed in 2024 with Volume I.

  • Samantha Fisher with 'Ma'. This is a beautiful, bittersweet, melancholic story, told from a fantastic point of view, and left us feeling strangely warm and comforted.
